There's something exhilarating and romantic about being away from home. Seeing something new or visiting a place for the first time often creates the urge to document and share the experience.

This workshop embraces that instinct, particularly the tactile joy of putting it into a letter for a close friend or loved one. On behalf of The Pfister Hotel, Storyteller-in-Residence Megan Dorsey will guide attendees to uncover this lost art.

Held on the mezzanine level of The Pfister's opulent two-story lobby, the workshop will begin with a short introduction to the history of letter writing and travel correspondence. Guests will explore the era's fascinating etiquette norms and view ephemera from Megan's personal collection, including specialty pens from each decade.

Megan will then guide guests through a writing warm-up, brainstorming session, and finally the composition of their own handwritten letter. Writers will then have the opportunity to mail their letters via The Pfister's antique working mail chute.

Light snacks and refreshments will be served throughout the session. Guests will leave with a special Pfister stationery kit with which to continue writing letters at their leisure.

Please note: Guests are encouraged to bring their own ephemera to mail alongside their letter! Ticket stubs, napkins, etc are all welcome.
